Written by Adela B. Stewart, based on her diaries kept during the foundation of George Vesey Stewart's Katikati settlement. Adela was married to George's brother Hugh. Adela and Hugh sailed to NZ in the 'Lady Jocelyn' in 1878 and remained in NZ for 28 years. Their house was called 'Athenree' which then became the name for the district. Adela appears not to have sat down for 5 minutes during her time in Athenree, stopping her daily toil only to sleep.
