The forth book in the Millennium series, this one written by David Lagercrantz. Lisbeth Salander helps to protect a young boy, who is a savant, but who saw the man who killed his father, and the killer is now after him. His father was doing research into AI, and criminals were after it.
This story is about to boys who are orphaned, and what became of them. One became an author, and the other a killer. The author had been adopted and the other had run away and ended up living on the streets, and was befriended by a mobster.
Set in LA, a cop, who had everything, but lost it when she started drinking. She got kicked out of the force, home and lost her husband, children and her self respect. After nearly being killed by a serial killer, she drags herself out of the gutter and helps (in the background) the police to catch the killer.
This was the first time I read one of his books, and really enjoyed it. Hana a cop was evolved with breaking up a protest 18 years before, when she was a new cop. Someone starts murdering people, and leaving a koru pattern behind. Hana has to figure out the significance, so that she can stop him and save members of her family .
This story was about a couple who immigrated from England in 1860s, to take up farming in the Canterbury Highlands. The husband goes off surveying, and eventually goes over to the West Coast to go gold mining. His wife is left to work their farm, which she enjoys.
This was quite a blood thirsty book . Telling the story of the English battle against the French at Azincourt in 1415, where the English beat the French, even though they were outnumbered.
An ancient map, is stolen from the Book of Kells. The map shows the way to the land of Cyclops and the Lotus eaters. They find both, but with a lot of adventures along the way.
I enjoy reading Ian Rankin, and have read most of his books. This is one of the early ones, featuring DC Clarke and Rebus. A student goes missing, and a small wooden coffin appears, and both Clarke and Rebus try to work out the significance of the two finds.
A top lawyer in LA is murdered, and Detective Bosch works to discover who did it. Lots of red herrings along the way.
