  • Smith of Wootton Major

    By J R R Tolkien
    4 stars

It was interesting to note that this began as an introduction to a book of George Macdonald's the Golden Key, but Tolkien realized it morphed into its own story. Being the last book published while Tolkien was still alive, it attempts to explain the Faery and had allegorical interpretations at certain points to Tolkien. This story is about the biggest annual festival held in the village of Wootton Major every 24 years, for 24 children, with the highlight being the great cake filled with trinkets and a faery star.
