Story centering around the disappearance & discovery of two teenage boys in late 1800s. Gave an insight into immigrant life at the time. Such Immersive writing, I could picture the gardens, houses & people like I was there.
A family’s journey across several generations. Literal & figurative voyage of discovery after a relative’s death. Somerset accent provided some lol moments at the beginning.
Wow what an emotional read! Beautifully written but very dark. Follows the lead character’s battle with his inner demon after the death of his wife. Further compounded when his father who is serving time in prison contacts him. Is it biologically inevitable that he will follow in his fathers footsteps??!!
Really enjoyed reading about the history of the gold rush in NZ by area. The pictures, poems & anecdotes of the West Coast were of particular interest. Needed glasses because the writing was so small!
Brilliant!! Learnt so much from this book. Can’t wait to get out and start foraging! Great Photo ID with comprehensive subheadings including description, tips, habitat, seasonality & uses. Best guide to native edible plants that I’ve read to-date.
Second book in the series, took a turn from bizarre to disturbing. Lead character brings a ghost to life whilst trying to track down Jack the Ripper before she’s his next victim.
Fantasy Rom Com with a difference about a girl that can see & feel ghosts. Bit of a shocker!! If you’re into ghost three-ways you’ll be into this :)
Love & desertion in the First World War. Heart rendering read with an ending that left me stupefied.
Futuristic sci fi read about a teenager who after a car accident has been uploaded into a game in order to keep his consciousness alive. He’s safest in the lower levels where threats are less lethal but ventures into the upper levels to help save his girlfriend after learning from his fellow gamers that she didn’t fare as well as him. Good read, that keeps you guessing.
Magical fantasy written as letters about a girl’s ability to call on the incarnation of nightshade. Great descriptive writing with Interesting information on herbs & their applications.
Loved this book! Set at the turn of last century it follows the life of two children who met & fell in love in an orphanage. Spell-binding in its pros, it was a read that was as much captivating as it was disturbing. I certainly had no idea there are so many types of clowns!!
What a finale!! Epic!!
Book 2 is not a disappointment! This deeply twisted story moves up to another level. Everything is unexpected!! All I can say is betrayal, betrayal, betrayal!!
What to say about this book!? It’s a historical, paranormal fantasy that is more anti-love than romance, with oodles of sex. It begins in an ER room where the main character narrates her life to the DR on duty, fast moving from present day to the early 19th century. The book explores themes of consequences and cause & effect through unrequited love & dark obsession. I absolutely loved it!!
The finale to a fantastic series.
Book 2 is another great read!
Great read on a pioneering local Christchurch based motorcycle GP technician. Detailing his local & global success.
First book of The Bargainer series. A really great dark romance, fantasy read. Favours for beads!!
Great biography by Tim. Goes into fine detail that really sets the scene of the early years of the Britten. A deeply personal, fact heavy insight into John’s life & work.
Super interesting read on Kiwi Motorcyclists. From the tippy top to the bottom of New Zealand. Featuring everyday kiwis with a love of motorcycling to famous personalities. It’s got something for everyone & the pictures are really striking!!
Book two of the series. Good fantasy read.
Historical fiction set around the plague mixed in with superstition. Set in the West country in the UK where I grew up. Really loved reading about familiar places in a historical context.
Good read but slow pace, only managed 3 out of a 5 series.
An exciting read with a great plot twist at the end which left me eager for more. Look forward to the next book to see how it pans out.
Good read!
