I utterly, utterly adored this. The blurb on the back compares it to Judy Blume and Jacqueline Wilson and it's warranted. Rebecca is such a beautiful and complete character and her journey in the pages feels like just a snippet of her life and those of the other people around her. A soft, gentle read for middle grade readers and adults who understand the value and beauty in such books.
(categorising as an NZ title, since although the esteemed Dr Angelou was American, obviously all the translators doing the mahi for this edition are from Aotearoa)
Not necessarily my usual genre but really fun and sweet and appropriately weird and faintly eldritch at times. We need more quirky novellas!
Needed a bit of fun and fluff for the start of the holidays and this fit the bill. A nice play on queer narratives and bisexuality while also doing lots of good aspirational romance fluffiness.
