  • Empire of the Vampire

    By Jay Kristoff
    4 stars

Love a narrative being told within a narrative. Vampires at their best, ruling the world 27 years after ‘daysdeath’. Gripping for the most as the holy Silver Order battle to defeat them. A Sunday Times bestseller and a good YA read.

  • Guardian of the Dead

    By Karen Healey
    4 stars

Maori mythology, and cosmology combine to create a gripping fantasy. Add in the myths of Maui whilst a group of teenagers are practicing for their performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and you have a resulting literary feast!

  • Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow

    By Gabrielle Zevin
    5 stars

If Jojo Moyes, John Green, and Celeste Ng loved it, then it’s a worthy read. And the references to Shakespeare are great even if you don’t love Shakespeare. One of my best reads this year.

  • Demon Copperhead

    By Barbara Kingsolver
    5 stars

Kingsolver at her best. An epic tale! Loved it.
