Maori mythology, and cosmology combine to create a gripping fantasy. Add in the myths of Maui whilst a group of teenagers are practicing for their performance of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and you have a resulting literary feast!

If Jojo Moyes, John Green, and Celeste Ng loved it, then it’s a worthy read. And the references to Shakespeare are great even if you don’t love Shakespeare. One of my best reads this year.
