Wow. This story is not usually my cup of tea (the protagonists are military vets back from Afganistan, but heck the ending was explosive! (Pun may or may not be intended...!) One star taken off for the slow pace for the first 3/4 of the book.
I didn't realise the extent to which Native American women are kidnapped, murdered, or 'go missing'. Important read.
Another great read from this kiwi author! Lost a star due to its fast finish - the story had this slow build and was turning into a great read and then abruptly finished! I really hate how authors seem to think, oh, I'd better end this now and just quickly tie everything up.
Wow, intense! Great story, and even though I guessed the twist it just added to the intensity as I yelled at the characters!
A mix between murder mystery and Oprah advice...!
One of my top books for 2024. Vivid and gritty.
I really enjoyed this but I did find I stumbled on the Te Reo a bit. For me this made the prose a bit disjointed as I had to work out what the Te Reo word was (I have a reasonable level of Te Reo however many words were not 'common usage' and therefore I had to read around the sentence to gain an understanding). This is not a negative, it just slowed the pace down for me a bit.
Another great read from this author. Interesting premise.
THAT TWIST!
At times very funny but a heavy rollercoaster... The protagonist gets there in the end as we all do.
American summer camp mystery... Dual timelines... A twist but not...
Go Cormac!!
I enjoyed it but it wasn't my favourite read of the year. I do enjoy reading almost anything by NZ authors, set in NZ, though.
I preferred the first book but am very much enjoying the series.
Wow. Read in two sittings.
Another solid read.
Thought provoking - a great read!
