  • Ride of the Katipo

    By Stu Duvall
    4 stars

This book follows a similar pattern to others Duval has written. Having had Stu speak to our students it is easy to see the formula works. Unfortunately for the protagonist, he is at the mercy of many things. I enjoyed the book, especially in that the antagonists were quite unpleasant.

  • The Mapmakers Race

    By Eirlys Hunter
    4 stars

I really enjoyed this book. The sense of adventure in the midst of a race was cool. The dirty tricks played by some of the characters set up the story nicely.

  • Did I Ever Tell You This?

    By Sam Neill
    4 stars

Sam Neill has lived a life. He is a terrific storyteller. He does name-drop a little but why not? At times quite the emotive piece.

  • The Wild Robot

    By Peter Brown
    4 stars

A neat story of change and adaptation and how judging a book by its cover can be wrong.

  • Dune

    By Frank Herbert
    1 stars

Some parts were good, but most were rambling tales that had little point and were over-elaborated on. The blurb stated a classic and sci-fi must - completely disagree. I only finished as I invested sooo much time in it.

  • A Life of Part

    By Bryan Cranston
    5 stars

It read as if Cranston and the reader were having a yarn over a coffee.
