    By Anna James
    3 stars

Was a bit cute. Liked the classic books aspect of it. Wanted to read, as found it at the New Plymouth Lion Park for $5. I also bought number 2, but wonder how long it will take me to pick that one up...

  • The illustrated Dennisten Rose and the Heart of Coal

    By Jenny Patrick
    5 stars

I just cannot recommend this enough. i feel I cannot do justice to how much this book has given me feels. I have read both of these books before, quite a few years ago now, so decided to re-read with the illustrated version. It is just amazing how Jenny Patrick just gets what like was like back in the times before now in NZ.

  • Hicksville

    By Dylan Horricks
    3 stars

Well this was different. I did enjoy it, but there were parts where I was a bit lost.

  • House of Odd

    By Dean Koontz
    5 stars

    They just kept getting better

  • In Odd we trust

    By Dean Koontz
    5 stars

Loved. I mean, I am the generation of Dean Koontz. Cant wait to read number two.

  • Witch Light

    By Jessi Zabarsky
    2 stars

    Nah. A little bit boring.

  • The Greatest Thing

    By Sarah Winifred Searle
    5 stars

This was sweet and covered lots of issues encountered by teenagers. I would recommend in some of the kids I teach.

  • Crumbs

    By Danie Stirling
    5 stars

Nice. Cute little love story with some (and not in your face) themes that would suit teenagers.

  • Displacement

    By Kiku Hughes
    5 stars

I really enjoyed this and learning about a part of American history that I knew little about.

  • Elodie's Library of Second Chances

    By Rebecca Raison
    5 stars

A cheesy romance. And I LOVED it. Just what I needed after a few crime ones. Am going to hunt out her other books.

  • Who let the Gods out

    By Maz Evans
    4 stars

I needed something light and easy while still in my wheelhouse. Would be great for younger readers who enjoy the ancient world. Lighter than Rick Roidan books, but still with the wit of how the gods interact in a modern day setting.

  • Closed Casket

    By Sophie Hannah (Agatha Christie)
    5 stars

This has been my favourite of the four I have read as Sophie Hannah writing a Poirot novel on behalf of the Agatha Christie foundation. She really does write as the character of Poirot as though it was Christie herself.

  • The Secret Service of Tea and Treason

    By India Holton
    5 stars

Sigh. A delightful read and possibly my fave of the series. It weaves all of the previous two into one delicious read. Sad that it looks like this series has ended (but ending GREAT!!!) Plus there is another series on the way.

Possibly one of my favourite reads this summer. Such a great rendition of Alice in Wonderland. Cannot wait for number 2.

  • Murder on Mustique

    By Anne Glenconner
    5 stars

A really good read. I may have picked the killer a little sooner than I would have liked, but still a great mystery. Will read more of the authors books.

  • The Pleasures of Men

    By Kate Williams
    2 stars

I was a bit let down with this book, as the blurb looked exciting. Will not be passing onto my fellow readers.

  • Wings of Fire: The Brightest Night (Graphic)

    By Tui T. Sutherland
    3 stars

Really glad this was the last one I had to read. Tried to get my 8 year old into this months ago thinking it was going to be way more light-hearted. It is not. May read better as a chapter book perhaps.

Not his usual type of book. More supernatural than he usually does. But it was a nice change.

  • Never A Hero

    By Vanessa Len
