    This book has loads of potential as a class text for Year 9-ish. I found the writing of the relationship between Egan and 'the outside world' a bit clumsy, but overall see so much valuable content to study as a class, from studying the 'code' to researching bush skills to critiquing personality traits, as well as exploring some of the classic writers mentioned in the book.

    Brilliant class read aloud for 12 year plus, with lots of excellent historical material to extend on with classes. Lessons could also be based around tikanga and te reo taken from this book. Fantastic resource for New Zealand classrooms.
