Mad, magical, exuberant feminist fiction.
A gripping summer read. Cleverly written, weaving multiple perspectives and keeping the reader guessing until the very last, plot-twisting page.
Atwood weaves interesting characters and storylines across nine "tales". Ranging in genre from thriller to horror and dystopian, I really enjoyed the stories. A particular theme of aging and confronting what or how to live those late years well ran throughout.
A thrilling page-turner. A clever take on The Tempest but very enjoyable, even if you are not familiar with the play. My only reason for four stars is the ending. It was too happy but perhaps that is my world-worn cynicism informing my opinions.
