Interesting book to read as a starting point to read African novels but quite problematic.
A wonderful and poweful end to The Beartown trilogy.
I have enjoyed reading Kingsolver books in the past, and this one did not disappoint. It was interesting to read a book of her's with a male protagonist. Being from the US, this book was poignant and insightful to be reading post this year's presidential election. I think it shed some light on why regions in the US feel put upon and neglected and why they may be reacting with so much anger. I think the length of the book is also necessary to allow the reader to really get to know Demon and to experience through him the motony of the daily trauma that he endured.
