Another classic from my childhood that I read to my daughter. All the magic I remember as a child is still present and wonderful as an adult. A story of a secret world and a special pair of glasses in an otherwise ordinary world.
An interesting account of an English woman who falls in love with a man from Botswana and moves there to live. All is rosy until its not and the culture clash is enough to drive her back to England after 15 years.
I read this to my 8 year old. Loved this when I was a kid and so great to re read it. A story of making friends and believing in each other.
I read this to my 6 year old. A wonderful story of running away and survival and being at one with nature.
Nowhere near as good as "all the light we cannot see" by the same author. Interesting characters and a strange plot that takes you from Alaska to St Vincent and inbetween.
A bit simple to start but turned into an interesting read about WWII and a kiwi soldier's war love story.
Lots of great short essays on nature and science and birds with interesting facts and observations.
Brilliant, still can't stop thinking about all the vivid characters.
A nice quick read that makes you appreciate the freedoms that women have in science now compared to the 50s/60s
