  • Fever crumb

    By Philip Reeve
    3 stars

3.2 fever crumb was a great opening book to the new series, with lots of hints towards the original books, and answering questions I had whilst also opening the road for new ones and expanding greatly upon the world of immortal engines and how exactly the tractionalist cities came to be. Fever is a great protagonist, and breaks away from Philip Reeve typically horrible writing of woman with them be crazy or ugly (but actually secretly beautiful) or on the other hand pretty and useless. Not cruel just not kind. fever may be socially inept but she's intelligent and kind hearted, when out of her depth she's able to use her smarts to keep herself safe. Fever story is one of belonging does she belong to London? Or only the engineers who saved to life and raised her? Or the Scriven her people by blood which are causing her to have visions of them and there dreams? There are lots of characters beyond her who also end up impacting fever as a person due to their own actions and choices, such as kit, her mother, and doctor crumb. There are lots of political fractions throughout the course series vying for control of London. And excluding the Scriven all have a good and bad side each do evil and good things because like the human to run them it's messy with good and bad things to be gained for people from all groups. I really the climax and how it all went down, and everyone was slayed. The ending with Fever taking newly orphan Ruan and Fern out of London to safety and joining a traveling group of actors which is pretty random but could be important for web of air since they will have disguises to hide with now. Which sounds interesting so I'm looking forward to it and hope the author capitalizes on how the acting traveling group can impact it's plot.

2.8 This book had potential to be good it did not deliver on that potential to be good. The heroes are damn useless in this book, unable to save lives and the problem I've had with prior books to do with Hester treatment and how every character feels the needs a commentate on how tom is too good for her because of the face scar continues in this. Infact all the woman in this book (and the other 3 to a lesser extent as there was more diversity) that are strong or want to get something done ether scarred and slightly crazy or beautiful and completely crazy. No f****** Middle ground. They're all dead the ones who are in the middle ground. I like to the ending for this book the epilogue was good but I did not like the climax for the story as it felt very anticlimactic after all of the build-up felt flat as f***. Honestly beyond the book one all other books kind are of s***** and a big let down for what they could have been, with the unique premise of city that eat city's, with the gods and political world building, but the gods are never expanded upon within all four books not a single one is given a name they just called them the mountain gods the ice gods etc etc. it could have been great but ultimately it was not. I hope the fever crumb series and thunder City are better. Since yes in spite of my disappointment I'm still planning to read the prequels.

  • Infernal devices

    By Philip Reeve
    4 stars

This is a really enjoyable book, best suited for fans of action stories. My favourite character in this book was hester since I enjoy flawed characters. I really disliked Tom at the start, not for what is character was doing but because he didn't have any real problems in his life beyond a hurt heart. And the heart hurting thing wasn't foreshadowed all that while in predators gold when his heart was shot. Which is the implied cause of the current pain in it. Wren is a great character, but I didn't enjoy the start when she was like my life is so boring. Like girl you'll privileged, the life's your parents lived weren't exciting they were scary. But the story does state that she wasn't told the exact details due to Tom and Hester not wanting to speak about it. So I guess she only knew about all the fun and epic sounding bits. Shrike came back at the end of the last book, and I was worried but oh boy did I like him in this one. He kills stalker fang which he was was programmed to do and then at the end saved hester's life. I don't know where Phillip is going to go with this plot, but I will enjoy seeing a return of her and shrike especially because of what the reader saw of the relationship from book one. This was a great book but mainly due to the action and what it's setting up still really really good for it is.

2.8 stars. I like this book... Is what I want to say. This book suffers from middle book syndrome. That means it suffers from having to set up things for other books, and this book has plots and arcs, it introduces characters. Only a few I like and am actually invested in but we'll get to that. The crux of the story is built a top Tom cheating on Hester with a girl called Freya two years after the events of book 1. It's been 2 years since book one and yet Tom has not changed. He has been exposed to some pretty dark shit where he's gone or he should have been yet he's still naive and nice. Like seriously is character needed some change in order to justify this time skip. Beyond just I don't know making it the destruction of London having happened years ago, and changing up the political climate. Hester is great at the start of the book but we'll get to my problems with her throughout the rest of the book later. Tom and her meet a professor of history, get attacked by the greenstorm (the previously mentioned political changes), and go aboard a traction city heading for America which is believed to be dead. In hopes of finding land there to live upon and keep themselves alive. Tom ends up spending lots of time with Freya, much to the jealousy of Hester, Cheating on her with Freya. Where introduced to a group of theifs known as the Lost boys, there an interesting lore Tibet, hester leaves. She sells out the city in order to get Tom back. But regrets it so turns around to save them. And other stuff happened, but my point with the summary was like Tom and Hester as characters are kind of stale in this book. Loved them in the first, but this one is really bogged down by middle book syndrome. I will say that I loved the introduction of the Lost boys as well as a new stalker in the form of Anna fang resurrected as stalker fang. Freya Seems like she could become interested in the next book but I'm not holding my breath. I did a really like the Lost boys and pennyroyal is a heartless a****** who is only interested in himself and money but like.. my man's got plot armor he's coming back. Like he was shot throwing off a moving city and survived. And wrote a book lying about the whole event to make more money. He's coming back I don't know how but I doubt he'll change. Doesn't seem the type of character. There been no set up for it. If He's done right in the next book I could like that for a side character. Or villain / minor antagonist. Just a greedy selfish a******. News in spite of my problems with this book I will be reading the next one as I really like the premise and the first book. Plus as previously mentioned a lot of the side characters were pretty good especially the lost boys.

  • Night flights

    By Philip Reeve
    4 stars

3.8 stars. Night flights is three stories about Anna Fang a character with an immortal engines serie that died within the first book. I like to this book it allowed us the glimpse into the mind of Anna Fang a cunning and brave women who worked a person within the Anti-Traction league. The three short stories are frozen heart, Traction City Blues, and teeth of the sea. Frozen heart tells the backstory of Anna Fang how she was able to escape slavery, as well as the later two stories following her working anti-trancation spy. I like them, they were good with themes of avoiding intimate and close relationship running throughout.

  • Girls made of snow and glass

    By Melissa Bashardoust
    4 stars

3.8 stars. I love this books characters but the plot is disappointing mainly in it's conclusion. The characters especially Mina are full of depth and dimension with each of them having there own arc, and being very well written. I love the complicated morality of mina, and Lynette growth to being a girl to a women can lead the kingdom and people. I don't really like the conclusion it feels very rushed, especially clear for what had been a very well-paced book, and there's recurring thing of this curse known as sybil curse, but all it tells us that it was caused by a female queen and it's the reason why it snows all the time in the south. No more information beyond that. Still really enjoyed it tho especially with it's duoligy theme of the glass heart and snow girl tying back into the original Snow White mythos.

I did not finish reading this book. I did not like this book. The start was actually very good by start I mean first chapter all good writing goes out the window with the introduction of Dane (male lead), takes place. I have no real interest in writing a review of this book as it's a genuinely bad book. The rebels or exiles as they're called a poorly thought out badly written and plans make sense but then they don't anymore because they're not telling people crucial things about events that they are partaking in until it's time for a convenient exposition dump. For a prime example let's talk about Essie the guard and Dane. Dane spent his entire childhood being told he had to follow the law for them to achieve equal rights, whilst Essie mother was a secret exile placed within the plalace to change the kingdom from the inside. Essie did not know this until Dane found her with the plan to get his father and other imprisoned exiles releases. They were told this about her mother by the guard who saved her life telling them both this as Dane didnt know ether since for whatever reason no one told the person who was tracking down the princess, since a plan which fell apart years ago with the death of Essie mother the exile queen, Essie going into hiding, and a bunch of the exiles living on the planet getting arrested for Essie so called "death" and yet Dane was still important for some fcking reason. Also Dane found Essie due to an accident and she decided to help him out even though she felt something was off about him, and there so much I hate. This book is a horrible mess. I wanted to like it but I don't. I couldn't even finish it. That's how much I hated it. Anyway if you want to take something away from those review don't read stitching snow it's a bad book.

  • poisoned

    By Jennifer Donnelly
    3 stars

3.5 stars. Poisoned is a retelling of the brother Grimm's fairy tale snow white. And a book I was looking forward to reading having read Stepsister (another book by Jennifer Donnelly). This book was quite good in some area's but did not quite reach the same highs as stepsister. Now to start with my actual review- I liked this book a lot and throughout most of it would've given it a 3.80 stars (points deducted due to some clunky dialogue between Sofie and Will when they first meet) but the ending was pretty ehhhh varying towards being bad only saved by the fact that all the buildup was there all throughout the book the actual execution for the ending felt sloppy. Sofie as a character I didn't like at times, she felt like she had no autonomy and helpless naive to the world around her, but I did like her journey to becoming a proper leader for her people and her genuine kindness as well as willingness to learn about the world around her. The seven dwarfs, are not very defined in this book, and well serving an important role in the book I feel the only reason why there was 7 of them is to follow the original Snow White story, rather then just having 3 that the reader can also get to know at more length. Still I understand why Jennifer Donnelly made the choice in order to stick with the original Snow White story lore. Yes I'm including Jesper even if he does technically contradict that by being a eighth dwarf. Now there's more I'd like to write about but I also need to do a stitching snow review so I'll say this- I think this is a good read and people should check it out even if it's a step down from step sister in terms of writing and storytelling it's a legitimately good retelling of an old fairy tale.

  • The reappearance of Rachel price

    By Holly Jackson
    2 stars

2.5 the reppearance of Rachel price, starts with quite well building a lot of suspense and stakes, all without introducing Rachel price in order to set up the family dynamic with her Aunt Sherry uncle Jeff cousin/sister Carter, and father Charlie. However I feel that this setup does fail in one regard it doesn't make Charlie and Annabelle feel like a team like a one family unit like her belief that he's the only person who would never leave her behind makes sense. This is due to the already being a lot of stakes and some level of tension in the story due to the documentary which she's not all that happy about. And unsure as to why her dad would agree to this. But in the middle it drags and the finale is a total rush conclusion with a bunch of plot holes and a really poorly thought out plot twist. Let's get into that bad plot twist which I absolutely despise. Ok so here it is- Charlie was plotting to kill Rachel who was planning to change her identity as she didn't want to divorce since she knew he was planning to kill her and didn't want to lose custody of her daughter's Annabel and (she didn't name her) Carter so instead she was going to leave the country rather then go to the police with very flimsy explanation given that she didn't believe they'd trust her due to a lack of evidence. Charlie didn't want to get his own hands messy aware that if he did the police might catch him due to it typically being husbands in these cases so instead got his father to do beneath the threat of taking him to court over the murder of his mother which was infact his doing. The grandfather agreed, not wanting go to jail but he also didn't want Rachel to die so he instead made her a prison within a truck, before she could run away with Annabel to take a new identity. But when he took her she was 4 months pregnant, with Carter. Sister / cousin as said earlier because two week after being born he took Carter to give her to be raised by Sherry. Even though it was poorly reinforced as it was done in two weeks and if she tried someone would have been able to hear her screams she didn't try, as she was worried of what the grandfather would do to her or worse yet Charlie. Charlie was tried on her murder but equited, by the courts due to lack of evidence. Rachel's parents accuse them of being behind it and considered taking custody of Annabelle from him but never tried for it for some unknown reason. Like not seriously we're told they considered but not told why they didn't do it. Anyways the grandfather has a stroke a year before the story starts, and doesn't come to Rachel with food and water and books like normal so she becomes worried after a few weeks and eventually manages to escape. Rather then going home she takes $30,00 she had due to her planned runaway with Annabel and goes a few towns over, where she dyes her hair and works as a maid. If she turns up Charlie will probably try to kill her after the reporters are gone and and what easily be able to frame it as a suicide due to trauma, which is like that last part is just me playing a guessing game of assuming. Messages a film director of real life documentary on twitter and suggest they do a documentary on the disappearance of Rachel price. And that's where the story starts with the documentary being done as to make it possible for them to pay for grandpa's treatment. Rachel comes back in the same clothes she disappeared in, Or well they seem to be she actually brought them. From there the story unfolds. At the end Annabelle chooses her side upon learning the truth about her father being a gaslighting narcissic emotional abuser, and Carter learns she Rachel daughter after pushing charlie down a cliff who was holding Jeff his brothers ankle as to not be killed. They both fall, and Rachel covers it up. Sherry who had earlier abandoned Carter when s*** started to hit the fan, so doesn't know what happened is told they all ran off to Canada, through false identities she's told how to do it and where to go, and Carter reject her in spite of being the women to raise her. Complaint number two with this novel. Carter rejecting Sherry I can believe that because Sherry is emotionally abusive as well we see her making some pretty inappropriate comments about weight saying that Carter will get fat for eating like a normal person has noticed by Annabelle, and abandoning her once everything goes to hell in a hand basket, my promblem is that there's no building tension between the two until that moment there's no foreshadowing that this will happen I could have believed that if there was foreshadowing that this was a realistic thing as Carter's not mother was abusive and toxic. Furthermore in the epilogue she's already calling Rachel mum even though it's being what 3-6 months tops? For Annabelle that would be an easy transition from Rachel to mum as although she didn't call it that her entire life she was still ultimately her mom to some her head to some extent. Carter didn't have any foreshadowing for her line "you didn't raise me Annabel did" and her choice to stay with Rachel and Annabel not her adoptive mother, like I know they were annoying and not very good parents but seriously I don't think carter cared about them at all. She killed one of them even if by accident that should be scarring. Also Sherry knew were Rachel was, that's how she got Carter. Talk about a s***** person. Moving back onto the main plot summary they claim that the entire family ran off somewhere and the police checked this off as well, with the assumption being that they were involved in some form of criminal activity and Rachel's return was bringing a lot of friction within the family so they left their children behind in her care and ran off to who knows where due to either a their criminality or b Rachel's return or a mixture of both at least in the general public are not aware that they were actually killed. And last but not least let's talk Annabel in terms of main characters shes very unlikeable. She wishes would that Rachel disappear again, at the start and is immediately sus of her due to some basic mistakes within her stories, and immediately sus of her felt very weak to me but I guess it made sense due to her trust issues, from being gaslight by her abusive father her entire life, still Annabel lacked development, and was a very unlikeable character she got tolerable throughout the book but I think that was more me just accepting that she was an emotionally abused child so she'd act like this, and be unlikeable in this way. But Sum up there is nothing in this book. That hasn't been done better by some other book. And it sucks because usually those books are Holly Jackson's, Holly Jackson is usually the one wroting the good mystery books. I like all of her other ones and I wanted to like reappearance of Rachel prices well but I didn't. Because it was on a good book it's full of plot holes bad characters and shity writing overall. It's a drag to read and pretty disappointing when I consider who was the writer of this because I have read all four other books by Holly Jackson and I have liked all of her other books. And it makes me sad to know that this is the newest book from her. And that I don't think she even really wanted to write it. I truly believe that the reappearance of Rachel price was written purely to fulfill a contract with her publisher. Just such a bad book by comparison that there's just nothing that could make more sense of my mind then her not actually wanting to write it when you consider that her other books were just so good. 2.5 stars, I'm hoping her next book is better and she actually puts her heart into it

  • Snowglobe

    By Soyoung park
    4 stars

Snowglobe is a YA dystopian book set within a climate ravaged world told from point of view of Chobham. Chobham is a very realistic character, she wishes for the warmth and luxury of the snow-globe and in spite of the clear red flags from someone who had been there telling here not going there and to be asked to impersonated someone who committed suicide meaning that the whole no pirvacy is a lie still choose to go believing it to be good. Inspite of what I've listed above Chobham is by no means unlike or stupid as a main character she is just a byproduct of the system, and not a byproduct which disillusioned and would lead a rebellion at least not at the start or end even if she wants things to change somewhat. As the book unfolds with the dramas and politics of the snow globe being explored as well as the secrets held by Haeri as yes this dead has skeltons which are now also Chobahm as she is pretending to be her, all while not knowing who she can trust because the more she learns the less trustworthy everyone seems, on top of all this her own longstanding wonderment behind why she and Haeri look and sound so much alike. I have mixed feelings on the climaxe being them storming the media tower even if I think the reveal of her being one of many clones of Haeri is good albit predictable, but I do like the ending as I think the plan to show a tv show for everyone to appease them on there feelings of the Haeri's (my name for there group) getting access to the snowglobe. I also am really curious about what exactly what went down with Haeri as she didn't commit suicide but ran away. And last but least we don't know if the Yiboon's known as the Haeri's aren't the 1 group of clones just first to become publicly known as well as the mirror dimisheon's. I'm sorry that this is a jumbled mess, but I was trying to keep it short however I liked this book and had a lot more to say on it then I though. Overall however this is a well-written, book with realistic charaters, who are great to read, and a really good mystereies/suspense dystopia novel.

  • A guide to sky monsters

    By T.S. Mart, Mel Cabre
    2 stars

I wanted to give this book a more gracious review as I wanted to like it. It started out very good pretty illustrations, neat details lot information, well a little odd it was good. But I had to demote the score due to some uncomfortable implications through out the book, as well as letting there beliefs impact there writing. This reference to of course the writers belief in creatism which essentially means that they believe the current model of geogly is wrong. But this isn't the only thing they attempt to push of course this later thing is pushed with much less effect but in some ways is worse I'm speak of course about when they attempted to imply who are rude might be psychologically impaired. Eugh. I picked this up in seriousness as I wanted to read a simple but factual guide to sky monsters but that was not want I got. The authors own views impacted its writing facts which impact my reading experience in turn. If I pick this up for some fun reading I would not be nearly as disappointed, or if I had gone and aware of the authors beliefs, I would not be. But as is I was not aware and I started reading this thinking it to be an accurate and factual book. The art for the book is real pretty. Nothing will change that. But the writing quality sunk once I realised the book was inaccurate and it's bad implications to do with the views on psychology. Over all this could've been good could've a 3, or 4 but inaccurate information mixed with authors own personal views leading to it being so has dropped it to a measly 2 out of 5 for me

  • gleanings: stories from the arc of a scythe

    By Neal Shusterman
    4 stars

There is a total of 13 short stories giving us a look into characters we already knew but never before seen parts of them/there stories, as well as never before seen characters at all, there to add more depth into the world and prior actions from the main characters. I really enjoyed this and think it's a great set of stories for fans of the trilogy but I do have one minor complaint. I wish the one or two of the story's showed us Cithra Rowan or Greyson as it stands we were shown a lot to do with Cithra in anaphysia's shadow from her brother's perspective, and I liked that but just wished we got more on the views of Greyson and Rowan rather then just getting little appearance from Rowan in don't work with animals, or something to do with there families. But I think that ties back in with my own earlier gripes of there family not having appeared in the third book and wanting to know what the fallout from their actions was for them. However for greyson's family that wouldn't be relevant because he isn't publicly known as a tonist or as the toll, so this is more about Rowan family wanting to know what happen there seeing Rowan actions hurt people who didn't deserve it and we're innocent. Or somewhat since his parents were neglectful which is child abuse. My overall options on the short stories? There good, my favourite is the mortal canvas it really expanded upon the concept of immortality and how it would impact a person's view of the world, the lens of a cute high School Love story developing beneath the blade of a scythe that may kill them at the end of an art competition. It was very good I liked it a lot because of its philosophical themes, from Ai art the commentary makes on how it can mimic the look of art but not its soul, to the ending going over how in the age of morality we have a beginning middle and end allowing us to be complete as humans whereas in the age of immortality they do not have that. They do not have an end so they do not get to be complete. My least favourite is don't work with animals I liked the horror in it but simultaneously did not because of how absurd the whole situation was. A dog is the source of all this horror?! It was also very clunky and tonally confused. Anyways I'm only reviewing my favourite and least favourite as if I were to review all 13 I'd be writing another novel like I did for the toll. Which is not happening because that review took me three days to complete!

  • The toll

    By Neal Shusterman
    3 stars

The Toll is the third book within the Sythe trilogy opposing the last two which followed Cithra and Rowan this books main character is Greyson which follows his journey as he becomes the Toll. I really like following Greyson as his character is very good and his relationships with the others feel very fleshed out and nuanced I liked his romance with Jerico more then I like Cithra and Rowan as they feel a lot more natural, out of everyone within this book he had the single best conclusion in my opinion. Which isn't saying much as everyone else has HORRIBLE ENDINGS. like reading them it's okay I guess but the more I think about the other endings the more they piss me off and poorly written. But before going over the terrible endings I need to touch upon an issue I have with Jerico. Jerico is great, I love them and there arc, and relationships with other characters however I do have a problem with the authors writing of them being fluid. Not because I have a promblem with Jerico being fluid I think it's nice to have the rep for the trans community my promblem is the writing incessant need to CONSTANTLY bring it up whether or not it's relevant to what's going on it feels very much like queer baiting or just hammering away not just letting the audience know and bring it every once and while rather then EVERY TIME we focus on it to some extent whenever he appears and is the main focus or in a one on one conversation. Now let's go over the terrible endings for every character- Ayn Rand- Ayn Rand had a pretty good arc as she was forced to contend with all the bad things she'd done, her true relationship with Godard, but the conclusion to it WAS ONLY TOLD TO US IN AN OFF HAND-COMMENT!!! We weren't shown the conclusion to arc in which she KILLED GODDARD THE BIGGEST VILLIAN IN ALL THREE BOOKS A CONSTALY TERRIFYING THREAT AND WE WERE TOLD OF IT IN A OFF HAND FUCKING COMMENT FROM SOMEONE ELSE PERSPECTIVE. It was an awful ending to a really good charater arc and good villain. Cithra and Rowan- Cithra and Rowan weren't all that present in this book inspite of being the main characters in the last 2, but they still played a role in the plot but they were sidelined in favour of Greyson and for as much as I like him and his arc I wish that are main characters for the final book took a bigger role all that said is this book showcases there growth, and relationships for better and worse. Let's get the stuff I like out of the way- I adored all the details to do with how Cithra was able to get the information from the thunderhead, as well as how important she is for the current political climate. Whereas with Rowan we get shown more insight into Ayn Rand as well as how people view him, and it's reflection upon the political climate. We get to see all the development they've had throughout the series beyond that as well, and see how it influences them right now, but they barely change in this books. Now that's all I have to say for the good now onto the bad because there's a lot and I mean a lot of bad. First up- Cithra and Rowan is deeply in-love it's this grand love story of the trilogy highlighting themes of how love is eternal but untimally just felt ... Forced. In all 3 books, it felt forced but this one most of all, at least to me because of how it ended once more highlighting how grand and great there love is. I also hated the fact Rowan doesn't go to coma, as it adds age gape to there relationship, and YES even if isolated with just a robot he will change grow and mature as a person and don't even say "it's because they looove each other and overcome any obstacle" that's bs, as the relationship was very much forced to be romantic in the first book, and we don't get much page time with them any of the other books beyond there pining and deep love - which the author forced- and one or two chats, it's weird that the author gave them an age gape at the end of all this, it's like just adding sprinkles to the bad writing cake. Not to even mention the relationship between Marie Curie and Faraday, that two has a age gap and weird teacher/student can be read from the backstory that's given for it in it in book one at least it doesn't feel forced. But we barely see them together as they're forbidden from actually being in romantic relationship as scythes and were caught once before and don't wish to toll the line again. In this book Marie dead, and we see Faraday grieving but it's not great. I don't think we saw enough of him to understand how he was feeling about the death. Second- there family (and friend but to a lesser extent) I wish we wish we saw them speak to them on page. This is mainly about Rowan but also Cithra family as well. We DON'T see any fall out from there supposed permanent death and then revivals for there loved ones the greif and rage and hurt they felt. The rage mainly being Rowan family as they believe he sunk it and he did kill Sythes resulting in them being targeted and at risk of harm. For Cithra she comes from a much more loving household so I'm wondering about how her family process her death and then survival. It would've been great charater moment for the both of them but we don't get that. I guess it was good in the sense the book was already very stuffed but this is the third book were they are not main characters after being main characters for the last 2 being downgraded to mere side characters. We also don't see them morn the death of Marie Curie, who died to keep them alive!!! Thirdly there ending- they just Jimmy neutron to themselves into space seriously?! After all all the philosophical themes throughout the books thats how it ends?! It's not great, I don't like it and the more I think about it the more I think I might actually hate it. I have so much more I could say about this ending and how shitty it is but look... I'm tired of writing about this f****** book. This review is a novel itself it's super long and wordy and I probably repeated a lot of points throughout just saying it different. I'm saying three stars on the star thing but it's more like 2.5 just rounding up to 3 as I did actually really enjoy the first 2 books but this one is so bad and it's killed any chance of me rereading them due to how bad this ending is. So 2.5 stars, the endings are sh*t excluding Greyson which is kinda good some things could've been done better. Also I loved his crew when he was traveling not just Jerico. They were all very well-written.

  • The book of knowing

    By Gwendoline Smith
    4 stars

These pages go over different, how our mind and body impact one another which touches upon thinking traps, which are commonly found within CBT alongside stories with various scenarios and situations to go over how using or not using them impacting them impacts them with tips, alongside. The book also uses various philosophies and touches upon how belief system opperates for different people as example of thinking traps. It goes into detail about how biology impacts feelings for people, with the example from the book that comes to mind first being exercise, with the book going over all our negative feelings about what happens when people who regularly do it feeling better due to biology making it so which makes you feel bad when you don't as your not getting that boost from your bodies biology. It also goes over how perspective impacts the view of things due to life experiences, and differing views, impact how people perceive things, which goes over how this makes people giant leaps within thoughts and beliefs on situations and other people even with little to no evidence to support it. There is also a cognitive tool kit chapter with pages made up of worksheets to go alongside it as well as tips and tricks on how to get it done. the final pages are a summary of everything going over how to apply the techniques. There are pages made to be cut out and turned into cards with tips and tricks for using the things taught within the book or as the writer calls it "the cognitive toolkit." This book is very much a book meant to be reread so people can ingrain the techniques within their mind. The art is very reminiscent of Road Dahl book style and is also like watercoloring. It's pretty and nostalgic.
