  • Teach like a champion 3.0

    By Doug Lemov

Such a great resource. 63 things we can do - many we probably do without thinking they are ‘techniques’. I would recommend to all and this is also a dip in book that you could use to refresh and reenergise practice from time to time.

  • The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue

    By V E Swabb

Loved it. Clever, well written and epic in its range. A definite re read when time allows!!

  • Classroom Behaviour

    By Bill Rogers

This was my go-to and I just wanted to see how it holds up in relation to Culturally Responsive and Relational Practice. Relieved to see it does in what it promotes as actions, but some of the language used may connote otherwise.

  • The Garden Party and other stories

    By Katherine Mansfield

Re read some and read some for first time. Her content is even more relevant now - maybe as I’m older. Such a beautiful style that I really can appreciate.

So interesting and fresh to read this story of strength and wisdom. One I can share with my ākonga, especially those of Samoan whakapapa.

  • Birnam Wood

    By Eleanor Catton
    5 stars

Brilliant. Amazing characters, pacy plot and such a blend of NZ people and places with Global issues. So clever. And that ending. I can ‘see’ this book as the film or series it will no doubt become!!

  • Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing

    By Matthew Perry

A hard listen - audio book. Such a tragic life of addiction and so many relapses.

  • Before the coffee gets cold

    By Toshikazu Kawaguchi
    4 stars

Something quite different for me. A first reading. Japanese author translated. The concept of a quick trip back in time for a chat over coffee that helps you cope more in the present was thought provoking.

  • Hello Beautiful

    By Ann Napolitano
    5 stars

A compelling read. Loved the characters and the way the four sisters are derivative of Little Woman. Loved the complexity of William.

  • Making every English lesson count.

Actually read it twice. So much gold and a must read to refresh and refocus those of us who have been in roles for a long time. Such fresh perspectives. Motivating.

Really enjoyable!! Great recommendation by our school librarian and I will be recommending it to others. Clever and fun.

  • Heart of Darfur

Hard to read due to the grim content but enlightening about the vital role of MSF in war torn countries.
