Based on a true story and recommended to me by someone who lives in Port Levy because I think the main characters lived there after WWII. A moving account of war-time love, with well-researched insights into the suffering in Greece during Nazi occupation. Not a literary masterpiece, in my view, but engaging none-the-less.
Oops - overdue library book which got neglected in the recent house move! Not much of a scifi reader, but actually loved this! It's narrated in 1st person by the murderbot, and it's such a great character. Will definitely read the rest. Short, easy read, once you get your head around the techy language.
World War II historical fiction, centring around 3 women. Really well written. I'm not a romance reader, and there was a fair bit of romance in some sections, but it's not gushy and achieves the character development that is essential to the plot. Largely historically accurate, I believe. Fascinating stuff.
Jones is a great writer - found this really original and quite powerful overall, but the narrative was a little repetitive in parts.
