I love a cosy mystery but hadn't ever read any Ngaio Marsh. This was very similar in style to Agatha Christie, but not quite as clever. I'm not tempted to read the rest of the Inspector Alleyn series.
Highly recommend. As a pakeha, this book gave me insight into a variety of views on colonisation, tokenism, activism, Christianity, cultural appropriation, gatekeeping and much more. All that we know covers a lot, at speed. This makes it more suitable for mature readers but there is nothing in it that would make it 'senior only'.
Interesting concept, thought it might appeal to students but too many references to Mr Darcy's 'package' to be suitable. A very quick read.
