Sarah Parker’s When the Moon Hatched starts with a creative and intriguing premise, blending fantasy and sci-fi. The world-building is imaginative, and the characters are likable, but the pacing drags in the middle, and I’m not the biggest sci-fi fan making it hard to stay engaged. A decent read, but not gripping.
Whiti Hereaka’s Legacy is a moving story about identity and connection. Riki’s journey back to WWI feels raw and real, with rich detail that brings history to life in a sometimes uncomfortable way. Worth reading!
Weirdly thrilling rollercoaster of emotions! The plot twists are unexpected, the characters are raw and gripping, and the dark romance keeps you hooked. A perfect read for fans of edgy, intense storytelling with plenty of drama and angst. Hard to put down!
Stephen Fry’s The Odyssey is a fresh, witty take on the classic tale. Part of a series of re-tellings. Fry’s storytelling makes Odysseus’s adventures exciting and easy to follow, blending humour and modern touches with the epic’s timeless drama. It’s a fun, clever read that brings ancient myths to life in a way anyone can enjoy.
Easy reading romance. I enjoyed her fantasy series, so I thought I would give this one a go. Pretty basic, will they, won't they romance set in war-torn Afghanistan.
I had seen this one being posted around a bit, claims of an excellent dark fantasy romance. However, the writing is not the greatest, and I felt, at times, things were a bit rushed through with no real explanation. Definitely okay if you're just after an easy read and a little bit of escapism.
