My first book from this author and I have enjoyed it. I found the story a little hard to get into but when I did, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • The Man Who Died Twice

    By Richard Osman
    0 stars

Loved this more than the first one. So much easier to follow with a great story line.

  • Holmes, Magarey, and Poe

    By James Patterson
    5 stars

My new favourite characters from James Patterson

  • Murder in the Manor

    By Fiona Grace
    1 stars

Wouldn't read anything by this author again

  • What Will Burn

    By James Oswald
    5 stars

This is an Inspector McLean novel and the series has me hooked. There is an intertwined supernatural theme that runs through the stories and this is so well personified by the character of Rose - a transgender (before it was a thing) medium. The quality of the stories and writing is excellent

  • The Eexecutioner

    By Chris Carter
    5 stars

While particularly gruesome this book was particularly well written and had some great twists and turns.

  • The Death Code

    By Ava Strong
    0 stars

Ugh! I will never read another text by this author again. Little character development and everything was very shallow.

  • Deeper than the Dead

    By Tami Hoag
    5 stars

Although published in 2010, this book is a crime drama set in 1985 in a time before all the forensic techniques and technology we have now. It was a good read and I am looking forward to reading others by the same author.

  • Unforgiven

    By Sarah Barrie
    5 stars

Slow burner but worth persevering. I will read others in this series

  • Red Queen

    By Juan Gomez Jurado
    3 stars

Okay but not sure I would read another by this author

  • Our Daughters Bones

    By Ruhi Choudhary
    5 stars

While this is another detective novel and they can get a bit formulaic, this was a good one. I did work out part of the "whodunnit" aspect but the rest of it surprised me. I will likely read another one by this aurthor.

  • Under Currents

    By Nora Roberts
    3 stars

I decided to read this because I enjoyed Identity by the same author. Although it was a different premise it was the same formula and was fairly predictable. Not sure if I will read any more of hers.

  • Identity

    By Nora Roberts
    0 stars

This is the first Nora Roberts book I have read and really enjoyed it.

  • North island Weekend Tramps

    By Shaun Barnett
    4 stars

We were looking for some places to tramp hence this title. It is actually quite informative

  • New Zealand Shipwrecks

    By CWN Ingram (Compiled by)
    3 stars

This book piqued my interest because of the shipwreck at Waitarere Beach. When we first arrived in Levin it was huge, now it has been largely consumed by sand

  • A Ration Book Christmas

    By Jean Fullerton
    5 stars

I love books set in World War Two and this is part of a series. It was a novella added in to fill a gap but no less enjoyable. I wish there were more coming.

  • Private: Gold

    By James Patterson
    0 stars

Really disappointed in this novel. It was not up to the standard of the other "Private" stories. Very little character development.

  • Tell Me Lies

    By J P Pomare
    0 stars

Another really good tale - would recommend Pomare as an author.

  • Home Before Night

    By J P Pomare
    0 stars

It took a little while to get into but the story was great. The ending was a bit of a surprise.

  • The Money Pizza

    By Fleur Ianazzo
    0 stars

I can't review this book, I read it as a beta reader. It is due for publication early next year and I would recommend it if you are interested in improving your understanding of your own financial position.

  • Fear no Evil

    By James Patterson
    0 stars

I read this one out of order but it was a good story and I feel like if the books were read out of sequence it wouldn't matter.

  • Alex Cross Must Die

    By James Patterson
    0 stars

Love the stories and have read almost all of them. A great escape from reality.

  • In my Father's Den

    By Maurice Gee
    3 stars

    I enjoyed this.

  • Pieces of You

    By Eileen Merriman
    5 stars

This is the first of Eileen Merriman's YA novels I have read and I can thoroughly recommend it. She has an easy writing style but manages to convey so much. The main character Rebecca, goes through struggles that many young people can relate to. The text does deal with sexual assault and self harm so some might find it uncomfortable

  • The Medical Examiner

    By James Patterson
    3 stars

A good story that fits the criteria of the crime genre. Very James Patterson, although I will remain a fan.

  • I am not Esther

    By Fleur Beale
    5 stars

I think this is possibly one of the best YA books I have read. Addresses a number of issues we currently face in society e.g. mental health. The character development of Kirby is great and quite realistic.

  • Cross My Heart

    By James Patterson
    4 stars

Similar to other books by James Patterson although I was surprised to find this one goes across two novels.

  • Marriage and Families

    By Katherine Mansfield
    1 stars

Enjoyable stories but with odd endings. I found some of the stories appeared to lack purpose and didn't really go anywhere. I would not read any more of her works.

  • Whakaari

    By Marion Day
    5 stars

Wow! This had me hooked so quickly I got up at 5:00am to read it. Stunning story with Whakaari White Island used as not only a back drop but as a metaphor for all the pain and suffering the young protagonist, Roa is going through. I'm looking forward to the authors next book.

  • Scrublands

    By Chris Hammer
    4 stars

So far, its been very good. A bit of a slow burner but I'm hooked now. Lots of interwoven stories that create a tense finale. I was surprised there is a second novel with the journalist.

  • The Thursday Murder Club

    By Richard Osman
    5 stars

It took a bit of getting into but now I am hooked on the characters. I love the idea of the protagonists being much older and the main setting is great.
