Loved this book - a great recommendation from a colleague! a story about a divorced woman who takes herself off to a beautiful hotel to end her life. She meets a bunch of people who are all there for a wedding. Does she go through with it or will these new characters change her trajectory. It’s a story of how different people come together with different ideas of family dynamics and how they all intertwine. I loved how well written it was. A lovely enjoyable read. 5 stars!

  • Nightbitch

A short story about a stay at home mother who believes she is turning into a dog. There are some excellent passages in this book I could relate too but I couldn’t quite get into it. Made me think a lot about how your life changes once you have children and how women in particular become something else other than themselves. An ok story but not as fun as I would have liked.

  • Return to Blood

The second instalment of the series that sees Detective Hana Westerman solving a double murder. It’s well written with a couple of twists. An easy read that’s light and enjoyable.

  • In a Fishbone Church

Catherine’s first novel. It was a bit jumpy in the beginning and I wasn’t sure where it was heading. I think the blurb at the back is slightly misleading! It got better as I continued reading but definitely not as intense or a page turner like her others. If you enjoyed The Axemans Carnival or Pet then this probably isn’t for you. Just not as polished!
