A wonderful representation of how society treats you on the basis of your social status. The disparity between the rich and the poor and how their wealth impacts their day-to-day lives is the recurring theme of this rather short yet powerful read.

A poetic masterpiece, Dante's Inferno is the 'pilot' book of his famous collection - The Divine Comedy. One of the greatest classics of western literature, it encapsulates Dante's journey through the nine circles of Hell, guided by the Roman poet Virgil. It takes you on an intense journey wherein you experience a profound exploration of humanity. Travelling through the darkest pits of hell we, along with Dante, develop an understanding of the eccentricities in human nature.

  • Heart of Darkness

    By Joseph Conrad
    5 stars

An excellent insight into the horrors western colonialism puts not only the people through but also the land. Marlow experiences human folly and encounters cannibals , who indirectly, help him come to the realization that civilization requires restraint. Lack of restraint leads to barbarity. As a reader you are left to wonder if the Europeans, not the Africans, are really the true savages.
