  • Cold Cold Bones

    4 stars

It's been a while since I read a book in the Temperance Brennan series, but I enjoyed returning. A page turner which kept me interested.

  • The Spy Coast

    By Tests Gerritsen
    5 stars

I galloped through this book, after it quickly drew me in. I felt really invested in the story, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Have read many of Tess Gerritsen's books and I like her writing style and her characters.

  • The Last Word

    By Elly Griffiths
    5 stars

Another Elly Griffiths book which I've thoroughly enjoyed. Great characters and a twisty and interesting story.

  • Prey

    By Vanda Symon
    5 stars

Another enjoyable, twisty tale from Vanda Symon. I've read all of her Sam Shephard books now, and have never been disappointed. Her descriptions of Dunedin are spot on, and the characters are believable and interesting.

  • My Animals and Other Animals

    By Bill Bailey
    5 stars

As a fan of Bill Bailey, I expected to enjoy this book, and I wasn't disappointed. He loves animals, and writes about them beautifully. This book is funny, interesting and full of the joy of being in nature and interacting with animals of all kinds. He also write fondly about the animals which live and have lived with him, which is just as lovely.

  • Expectant

    By Vanda Symon
    5 stars

Have enjoyed this whole series of books, based in my home town of Dunedin. There's something nice about reading a book in a familiar setting, even a book with a terrible crime at its centre! Vanda Symon's books are well-paced, with interesting and engaging characters, and a good story at their heart.

  • Agatha Raisin - Killing Time

By M.C. Beaton with R.W Green
    4 stars

Another good read from the Agatha Raisin series. Easy to read, and, as always, quirky and fun. All the usual characters, and some shenanigans as well.

  • The Hazelbourne Ladies Motorcycle and Flying Club

    By Helen Simonson
    4 stars

Good characters and an interesting story. A bit predictable in parts, but an easy and engaging read.

  • A Thousand Feasts

    By Nigel Slater
    5 stars

As always, Nigel Slater's writing is beautiful to read. This book is a collection of his observations and thoughts about many things, and it's the sort of book you can dip in and out of. Thoroughly recommended.

  • The Grey Wolf

    By Louise Penny
    5 stars

Another gripping, considered story in this series. I love the characters, and the twisty storylines in Louise Penny's books, and this one didn't disappoint.
