I enjoyed this book. It mixes fact and fiction and tells the story of Erenora against the historical background of the peaceful resistance of Parihaka during the 1870s and 1880s. Erenora's warrior husband Horitana, is carted off to prison - first at Mt Cook in Wellington, and then to Te Wai Ponamau. Erenora and her sisters journey to find their spouses.
This is a beautifully written book and a sequel to 'Brooklyn'. The story starts with a strange man calling at Eilis’s door and telling her that her husband has been spending a lot of time with his wife and that she is to have a baby in August. When it is born he'll leave it right here on her doorstep. The story follows Eilis's decisions. I loved this book - it is probably my favourite of the the summer!
This is a great little book with lots of information about buildings around Wellington. It is a walking guide and I loved finding out about the buildings of Wellington.
A book about a woman during her summer holiday navigating changes through the stage of life where her children are growing older and her relationship with her parents is changing.
I listened to the audiobook which was well read. I enjoyed this book about a woman (later dubbed “The Death Lady”) telling passengers on a plane about the age they will die. It follows the passengers and how they manage their lives following the predictions.
A story of two sisters in the Blitz of Belfast in WW2.
A very compelling read with some very dark themes
This was an entertaining fast-paced, easy-to-read thriller.
Beautifully, eloquently written book about 6 astronauts orbiting the earth in a day as they experience 16 sunrises and 16 sunsets.
