  • Penance

    By Eliza Clark
    4 stars

This “true crime” novel is dark and gripping. It opened my eyes to the realities of parts of the Internet that I didn’t know existed. A good read, but very disturbing.

  • The Covenant of Water

    By Abraham Verghese
    4 stars

This book follows 3 generations of a family in India who seem to be cursed to drown. The story weaves many people and stories together, which can be confusing, at times, but it all makes sense in the end. Well written and engaging.

A beautiful story about an old woman who works in an aquarium and makes a special connection with an octopus. The aquarium and octopus lead her to the answers about the death of her son when he was 18. Great read!
