Watching cricket free to air this summer, got me reading this recent book about New Zealands best players. Well put together with a chapter on each of our best modern players. Good read.
I guess you either like him or you don't but I found this a highly entertaining read about his home in Palm Springs, USA during Covid times and back in NZ.
Continuing reading books by this author but not one of my favourite ones. Fairly predictable storyline regarding brothers taking different paths to end up at war in Europe.
Continuing reading the same author, this was about soldiers in the Solomon Islands in 1943 while the Japenese were on the run. Excellent read about interactions with some of the locals and outlined how challenging the heat and conditions were.
Phil Gifford writes a really good insight into All Black rugby world cup campaigns from the beginning in 1987 through to 2015. Interesting characters revealed like how massive Jonah was globally and some challenging relationships between coaches.
Another easy read book by David Hill, this time about a young Kiwi lad who goes off to Korea in the Navy during the Korean War, 1951. Plenty of action and story about courage and family redemption.
Set in the future when water runs out In Australia and they attempt to invade NZ. Our technology is superior and defeats them. Interesting concept looking into what future technology could look like.
Story about the prisoner of war camp in Featherston during WW11. An easy read told in the words of a young local schoolboy. Enjoyed learning more about something that I knew little of as a local resident.
If you are interested in racing, this is an awesome read about the full story of probably the greatest racehorse we will see in our generation. Easy read and some excellent photos throughout.
Really good book, well written and although the story line is quite sad and dark, it kept me interested and wanting to keep reading.
Ideal for teenagers to read
