Lovely heart-felt tale of an intelligent octopus and a women who cleans the park that he lives in. Lots of insights and humour and humanity wrapped up in a nice little novel that is accessible yet intelligent.
Jane Harper's ability to capture the sheer spirit of the Australian landscape is incredible. She leaves you in fear and in awe of it. I love her vivid writing and her themes in this book about outcasts and family violence. She is a favourite.
Loved this one - perfect for a thriller fan who wants to read a lot over the Christmas break. Good plot, characters - love that it is set in NZ - captured the hideous and inherent racism that exists in so many social circles historically and today. I did not anticipate the end - although a few plot sequences were stretching reality a little - but so be it!
