A must read for Pākeha and Māori alike.
A fascinating autobiography of a wāhine toa fighting to be true to herself and her culture through times of great change in society in Aotearoa. I'm in awe of her strength through her struggles in life and everything she has achieved for herself, her community, her culture, and many other groups in society.
A sweet story good for teaching describing words to kids and a bit about science and genetics in relation to appearances. Fun story.
Kids love the real clock to turn and I appreciated how other kids' stories were woven into the story in relation to different times e.g. Cinderella and twelve o'clock, however overall the story is not that exciting.
A favourite nursery rhyme reworded and beautifully illustrated with a kiwiana vibe.
Funny humorous kids book with accompanying song - my song loves it.
A stunningly illustrated book of collective nouns from a local Te Atatu artist.
Beautifully illustrated book and well known song. Need to find kiwi version next.
Fab kids book that is written and illustrated by my colleague's daughter. Anyone who loves cats, will live this book.
Scary read for any parent, but also a reminder of how far people will go to do what they believe is right and the strength of the human spirit. It was a good read but I'm not sure I enjoyed it.
Well loved story from when I was a kid and loved by my son now.
My son loves the felt flaps and has ripped any yet. He enjoys the rhythm of the text.
Great te reo Māori story about roadworks and constructing a road. One of my toddler's favourite books. Great rhythm in the text and beautiful illustrations too by Brian Lovelock.
Interesting read connecting the Bible and religious beliefs with superman, whilst central to the story is also the relationship between father and son. I found it quite riveringtowards the end.
