  • The Year of the Locust

    By Terry Hayes
    4 stars

This was a wonderful Christmas gift. I really enjoyed the first 3 quarters of the novel. It was action packed and thought provoking. However, there was a plot twist that sent this into a completely different genre.

I enjoyed this sequel even more than the original Enders Game.

  • Katie's London Christmas

    By James Mayhew
    4 stars

Making a start on my Christmas reading with my kids. We have a few of these "Katie" books that explore art and imagination. This book departs from the usual gallery setting, but is just right for Christmas.

  • Everything is Beautiful and Everything Hirts

    By Jose Shapiro

This had great moments and I'm glad I read it, but there were also moments that I found frustrating and disappointing.

  • The Bookshop Detectives - Dead Girl Gone

    By Gareth & Louise Ward
    4 stars

It had a lot of the ingredients I look for in a book. First of all a bookshop and then a detective story. It was also a bonus that it was an NZ novel.

  • The Mysterious Affair at Styles

    By Agatha Christie
    4 stars

A classic Agatha Christie novel. I always enjoy a good Poirot mystery.

  • The Fantabulous Animal Orchestra

    By Donovan Bixley

Although this is not my usual genre of fiction, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lots to discuss at our book club.
