Sumptuous and spiritual i te ao Māori. These poems thrill, haunt and uplift. A very accomplished debut.
Just amazing! This collection has all the brains, heart and spirit you could want in poetry, delivered through such original lyrical sound and vision. I love it; I will read it again; this is my pick for the winning Ockhams poetry book next year.
A fascinating anthology of poetry about crisis, resolution and peace from 20th century Aotearoa and Pacific Island poets. The glaring omission for me is Jacqui (J.C.) Sturm, however, who wrote many poems on these themes, not least her Parihaka poems.
